Synopsis:
Not everything is white or black, even in the case of a zebra. Kuba had the misfortune to be born with half his streaks, and so his preventive flock attributes to him the sudden drought that has hit the area. The young zebra has no choice but to leave, to find the legendary water pit, where the first zebras acquired their stripes. On this journey, Kuba will have as companions a cheeky antelope and a fancy ostrich, while he will meet a bunch of eccentric characters. The real challenge will come when a wild leopard appears on its way.
A half-striped zebra is born into an insular, isolated herd obsessed with stripes. Rumors that the strange foal is cursed spread and, before long, he is blamed for the drought that sets into the Great Karoo. The young zebra has no choice but to leave to find the legendary pond, where the first zebras got their stripes. On the journey, Khuba will have a compassionate antelope and a fancy ostrich for his companions, and will meet a lot of eccentric characters. The real challenge will come when a wild leopard appears on its way.
Director's Biography/Director's Short Bio:
Anthony Silverston is an animation producer, screenwriter and director. He was born in Cape Town and grew up in Kalk Bay when it was still a small fishing village. He studied animation at the Waldorf school but later studied science, since at that time, animation was not active in his area. He enjoyed science but always lacked art and after working a year in a genetics workshop, he decided to gradually turn to short films. Khumba (2014), Zambezia (2012)
Anthony Silverston is an animation producer, writer and director. He was born in Cape Town and grew up in Kalk Bay, when it was still a little fishing village. He went to Waldorf school, but then he studied science because at the time there was not much happening in animation locally. He enjoyed sides of it but always missed art so after working for a year in a genetics lab he decided to make the shift and slowly worked his way into the industry through a few short films.
