Ο Dennis Gansel, γεννημένος στις 4 Οκτωβρίου το 1972 στο Hannover, ξεκίνησε τα γυρίσματα για την πρώτη του τηλεοπτική ταινία The Phantom, όταν ήταν ακόμα μαθητής στην κινηματογραφική σχολή του Μόναχο. Κέρδισε Grimme Prize το 2001 και βραβείο κοινού στο Baden-Baden festival. Συνέχισε με τις κωμωδίες Girls on Top και The Downfall. Η δραματική του ταινία The Wave, κέρδισε βραβείο Jupiter Καλύτερου Σκηνοθέτη, το German Film Prize στο Bronze, βραβείο Σεναρίου στο Τορίνο και προβλήθηκε στο Sundance. Το μοντέρνο βαμπιρίστικο έργο του We are the Night, κέρδισε το Special Jury Prize στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Καταλονίας στο Sitges.

Dennis Gansel, born 4th of October 1972 in Hannover, started shooting his first TV movie The Phantom when he was still a student at Munich film school HFF. It won him a Grimme Prize 2001 and the Audience Award at the Baden-Baden festival. He followed it up with comedy Girls on Top and The Downfall. His drama The Wave earned a Jupiter Award for Best Director, the German Film Prize in Bronze, the Script Prize in Torino and the Special Jury Prize in Istanbul, and was screened at Sundance. His modern vampire more We are the Night won the Special Jury Prize at the Catalonian International Film Festival in Sitges.
