Summary:

The "White Plague", a deadly leprosy-like disease that mainly affects people over 50 years of age, is destroying the world. Doctor Galen, an isolated doctor who has dedicated his life to the poor, finds a cure. But he refuses to share his healing with the rich and the powerful, unless his one condition is met - eternal peace between nations.

Hugo Haas was born in Brno, Austria-Hungary, was an actor, director and writer. One of the most famous Czech actors in the 30s, he appeared in more than 60 films. He directed 20 films between 1933 and 1962 and died in 1968 in Vienna, Austria from asthma complications.
