Synopsis:

The documentary refers to the life and work of the famous director of photography Walter Lassally. In 1955 the director Michael Cacoyannis invites him to Greece to make his first film The Girl in Black. From then until 1966 he became his permanent partner. In 1964 he took the Oscar for photography for the film Zorba by Michael Cacoyannis. Walter Lassally collaborated with other Greek directors such as Dinos Dimopoulos (Maddalena, 1960, Lisa and The Other, 1961) and George Stamboulopoulos ( Open Letter, 1967). the Walter Lassally with his special technique in lighting a film influenced a whole generation of filmmakers in Greece in this field.

In 1955 the director Michalis Kakogiannis invites him to Greece to shoot his first film The Girl in Black. Since then until 1966 he became his permanent partner. In 1964 he won the Photography Oscar for Michalis Kakogiannis' film Zorba The Greek. Walter Lassally has collaborated with other Greek filmmakers such as Dinos Dimopoulos and George Stamboulopoulos. His special technique in film lighting has influenced a whole generation of filmmakers in Greece in this field.

The Director of Photography Prokopis Dafnos was born in Arta in 1950. He has been living permanently in Athens since 1972. In 1973 he began to study at the film school "L. Stavrakos", from where in 1976 he received his degree with the specialty of Cameraman. In 1983 he founded his own production company, CINEGROUP, in collaboration with the Director Dionysis Grigoratos, and until 1994 they collaborated with the state television, producing 70 documentaries. At the same time, he begins to work as a Director of Photography. He taught as a professor at New York College in the Camera 3 Workshop course from 2009 to 2011. Filmography: Polk File in the Air, The Flea, Hawaii, Our Municipal Theater, Deep End and more.
