EKOME - Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Χανίων - 8ο Φεστιβάλ Πελοποννήσου

With a student documentary from the Chania Film Festival, the workshop of EKOME for “Documentary in Education” at the 8th Peloponnese Film Festival

At the 8th International Documentary Festival of the Peloponnese and within the framework of the parallel actions of the Festival, the student documentary “Cine Astor: The hangout of Kissamos”, a creation of students of the Lyceum of Kissamos, which was created within the framework of the educational programs of the Chania Film Festival (school year 2018-19), was screened.

The documentary was selected by EKOME and was screened as a good practice in a workshop on “Documentary in Education”.

We note that the Documentary is a strategic choice for Educational Programs of Chania Film Festival. The oral testimony, the local history and the technique of the documentary are a field of common actions, both for the Educational Community to get to know the Art of documentary, and for the teaching of History in a modern way.

The Chania Film Festival, within the framework of its educational programs, has focused – strategically – in recent years on the creation of documentaries with the school community of Crete. Documentary with emphasis on man. Documentary on local history. Documentary dominated by the element of oral testimony.

Teachers, students and the education and production team of the Chania Film Festival meet in a common creative journey to get to know the art of documentary, as well as elements of local and oral history. A journey full of human stories. True stories.

Through the programs “cine Lessons” and “True Stories / CreDoc” about 70 documentaries have been produced in recent years. Each one is unique. Each one is different.

On the occasion of the 10 years of the Chania Film Festival, the action With my Documentary Travel [ https://archive.chaniafilmfestival.com/10docus_24tff/ ] has begun, where documentaries of the student programs of the Chania Film Festival are screened at festivals and various cultural events in Greece and abroad.
