Musical encounters on a cinematic background..!
On Wednesday, July 28, we present another “Concerto for piano and silent cinema” with the distinguished soloist and composer, Giorgos Saltaris, who will invest live with his music the screening of the film The Hamini – The Kid Direction: Charles Chaplin| 60΄ | 1921 | America.
“The Hamini” was filmed in 1921 and is entirely a creation of the great Charlie Chaplin. It is also his first masterpiece. The film retains the elements of slapstick comedy, but it also has many elements from Chaplin’s personal life. The loss of his child, his divorce and his poor years are presented in the film.
One hundred years after its creation, the film remains alive in the consciousness of all of us, causing the undiminished interest of the audience.
One hundred years later we invite you to a unique journey tothe 7th Art for a unique view of the film with music playing a leading role in the development of the film with the pianist and composer George Saltaris improvising creating the “one night” soundtrack of the film.

On Thursday, July 29, we honor the birthday of Mikis Theodorakis and in collaboration with the Association of Friends of Mikis Theodorakis, the Region of Crete – Regional Unit of Chania and the Municipality of Chania we present the film “State of Siege” Direction: Costas Gavras / 115 ́/ 1972 / Music: Mikis Thodorakis and starring: Yves Montand, Renato Salvatori, O.E. Hasse, Jacques Weber, Jean-Luc Bideau.
An excellent political thriller on the kidnapping, interrogation and execution of Dan Mitriona, a trainer of Latin American police officers in the modern “interrogation techniques” of the CIA, by the guerrillas of the city of Tupamarus, Uruguay (1970). A CIA agent trains the security services of friendly countries in modern methods of torture. This is the real story of Dan Mitriona.
