According to Mr. Papaderakis, the Chania Film Festival is now an institution and has acquired a hyperlocal entity:

I believe that the future of the Chania Film Festival will be even better, in relation to its role and its scope”.
The Deputy Regional Governor Antonis Papaderakis also referred to the educational role of the Chania Film Festival and the fact that this position is a model for similar initiatives: “In addition to the screenings that take place, there is an interactive relationship with the audience and a relationship of education for school students that is extremely important. This is a process of civilisation. Such initiatives as this one, in the field of cinema, enables there to be similar actions, as in the field of theatre and other arts, with the character and depth that the Chania Film Festival has. This can be done both in Chania and throughout Crete. It creates a model for such activities.”
