The Chania Film Festival, which takes place at the Cultural Center of Chania (23 October-2 November), was visited by the new Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Dimitris Fragakis. Fragkakis, who visited his hometown of Chania and did not miss the opportunity to be at the 7th Chania Film Festival, is the new General Secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization. It is noted that the 7th Chania Film Festival is under the auspices and with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organization.
The General Secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) was guided by the organizers to the festival’s premises, watched films and expressed himself with the best words about the event, which is improving significantly year by year:
“I am very pleased because as a new SG of GNTO I am in my hometown of Chania. I am glad that here in Chania a commendable effort is being made concerning cinema and a work is being done that has not only a local character, but also an international one. Therefore, it was reasonable for the Greek National Tourism Organization to contribute to this effort and will continue to support this event. So I believe that every year the event is getting better and better and better and we will have the opportunity to support the Chania Film Festival more.
In fact, the Mr. Fragkakis pointed out that the Chania Film Festival may well be an additional “pole of attraction” for visitors to our city and especially in a period that is not highly touristic:
“The visitor no longer wants only sun and sea. This is a model that is surpassed. The visitor wants experiences and I believe that such events as the Chania Film Festival differentiate the destination of our visitors, who can now come to Chania for this Film Festival, at a time when it is not highly touristic.
