The Exhibition of poster and archival material curated by Lefteris Lambrakis, on the subject, MELINA MERKOURI, 100 YEARS SINCE HER BIRTH, opens its doors to the public on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 20:00, at the cultural center of Chania, the date that Melina “began her journey to the stars”.
The exhibition, which takes place on the occasion of the announcement by the Ministry of Culture of the year 2020, as the Year of MELINA MERCOURI, will last from March to September 2020, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
It includes cinematic and theatrical lithographs and offset posters from the artistic and political activities of Melina Mercouri. Also, music records, theatrical programs, magazines and newspaper clippings, from all over the world. The material covers the period 1920 -1994 and aspires to highlight the personality, the course in theater and cinema and the political work of Melina Mercouri.
At the same time, in the framework of the exhibition, workshops, film screenings and musical evenings will take place. The actions are co-organized by the Region of Crete – Regional Unit of Chania, the Municipality of Chania, the Cultural Center of Chania and the Chania Film Festival.
