80 Years since the Battle of Crete – Audiovisual Tribute 24-28 May 2021

The Chania Film Festival and the Cultural Society of Crete, 80 years after the Battle of Crete, they remember and honor the Anniversary, the Fighters and the Place with an audiovisual tribute, from the Monday , May 24, 2021 until Friday, May 28, 2021, at Municipal Cinema “KIPOS”, in collaboration with the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, the Municipality of Platanias and the CFSP-KAM.

For five days daily, from 20:30 to 22:30, we invite you to an audiovisual journey of Memory and Reflection, starting from and on the occasion of one of the greatest moments of Resistance of the Cretan people against fascism.

On Saturday, May 24, 1941, a group of Germans enters the house of Loufardantonis, in Kakopetros of the Municipality of Platanias, Chania and murders with their automatic five women and a two-year-old baby. Maria remembers the story with us and her father telling her: Marika… why be afraid.

The program “Crete Oral History” is an activity of the Cultural Society of Crete in collaboration with self-governing and cultural institutions aiming at the preservation of intangible culture.
