Premiere at the 7th Film Festival – Crowds of people and important personalities in the great celebration of Art and Culture

With the film “Stella” by Michael Cacoyannis , the 7th Chania Film Festival began at the Cultural Center of Chania.

The 7th Chania Film Festival (CFF) takes place this year from 23 October to 2 November with more with 150 films in its central program, with several and particularly parallel programs, with 100 people from the field of Film and Education and much more.

The main hall of the Cultural Center of Chania was flooded with people, friends of culture and cinema who watched the emblematic film “Stella” by Michael Cacoyannis in a new digital version for the needs of the Festival.

The Chania International Film Festival honored with its presence and the well-known actor Mr. Tatiana Papamoschos, awarded for the film “Iphigenia” by Michael Cacoyannis.

The Deputy Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, the Deputy Regional Governor of Chania Mr. Nikos Kalogeris, the Deputy Regional Governor in the fields of Entrepreneurship, Commerce, Innovation, Social Economy Mr. Antonis Papaderakis, the Mayor of Chania Mr. Panagiotis Simandrakis, the Mayor of Platanias Mr. Giannis Malandrakis expressed their admiration for the qualitative increase of the event in recent years and stressed that they will strengthen it in every possible way in the future, because it is a point of reference for the culture and society of Chania and Crete in general.

The Director of the Second Grade Education of Chania, Mr. Stelios Zervakis, referred to the great educational character of the festival through the “Workshops and Screenings” for students included in the morning program of Chania Film Festival, while the new president of the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Crete, Mrs. Sophia Malandraki, referred to the fact that the Film Festival has progressed to a great extent in recent years. The emblematic film of Michael Cacoyannis “Stella” prefaced a musical-theatrical performance by the soloist Giorgos Saltaris, performed by Froso Kossivaki, which captivated the audience that flooded the main hall of the Cultural Center of Chania.

The Regional Governor of Crete Stavros Arnaoutakis after congratulating the Director of the Chania Film Festival Matthaios Frantzeskakis for the progress presented by the Chania Film Festival, awarded on the one hand the actress Tatiana Papamoschou for her contribution to Art and Culture, and on the other hand Alexandra Georgopoulou, Director of Production and Artistic Design of the “Cacoyannis” Foundation.

On Thursday (24/10) the regular program flow of the Chania Film Festival begins with the morning workshops and screenings for school students and the three film zones in the afternoon, from 18:00 to 00:00. The entrance is free, while the “social” ticket is in force, since the public has the ability to keep food and other basic necessities that will be distributed to charitable institutions of the city.
